County Kambos map by Sapiento by ErranEntertainment County Kambos map by Sapiento by ErranEntertainment
A map of the top and underside of a sky-continent in my Crystal Saint setting.
The fact that it's underside is not mirrored was a stylistic choice I made; the cartographical coordinates would be the same for any point on the 'coast', either topside or underside, as the cardinal directions do not change the way your perception of left and right does. Not sure if it's an interesting quirk or a mistake. I think it will work if there is a dialogue section in the story where the climbers complain about how impractical mapmakers are.

I commissioned this piece from :iconsapiento: (who was a pleasure to work with) and am extremely pleased with how it turned out.

You can see the commission guide here: Guide for map commission
and here is a landscape showing the view back from the Climber's Guild towards Lithi: Climbers' Guild by 0BO

Nice map, I love the idea of a floating double sided continent.
But there's a mistake in it (if I'm correct about how I see the continent, and judging by the waterfalls, I think I am) : If it really is an upside down version of the map above, it should have been flipped along x or y (like the small hands). It is impossible to see the same silhouette for the two sides of the continent. That said, maybe it's been done on purpose, to show the symetry of the two faces, but I find it strange nevertheless.

I'm even more curious about your story now XD

Its a hard thing to get your head around, and Sapiento and I had a long discussion about it, but im quite sure we got it right in the end.

The key thing to consider is that the compass directions dont change despite the view being switched to looking up from the underside; any point on the 'coast' will be at the same cartographical coordinates, even though the viewers right and left will have been reversed.

The geography of this world is tricky; its essentially a gas giant like Jupiter with the sky continents orbitting its centre but still within its atmosphere. at the centre there is a small core, highly compressed by the massive gravitational force acting on it, which appears about the size of our moon to the people on the continents.

One of the first scenes in the story is Danaid sitting on the edge of the cliffs and watching the sun set from the upper to the lower sky. It's proving quite a challenge to describe
